A bilingual Celebrant for this exquisite Country
Switzerland holds a very special place in my heart. I have had the privilege of officiating ceremonies here many times, and every single one has moved me. There is something about this country — the stillness of its lakes, the drama of its mountains, the elegance of its cities that makes it one of the most extraordinary places in the world to say your vows.
Whether you are dreaming of a quiet exchange of vows at the edge of a mountain lake, an intimate ceremony in a grand lakeside château, or a small wedding surrounded by your closest people in one of Europe’s most romantic settings, Switzerland offers it all.
And I would love to help you create it.
Who this page is for
This page is for couples travelling from the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia and beyond who are planning an elopement or intimate wedding in Switzerland and want a ceremony that is personal, meaningful, and completely their own.
You may already have your venue. You may still be dreaming. Either way, let’s talk.
I offer ceremonies in English, in German, or in a combination of both, which makes me particularly well placed to support international couples and cross-cultural families who want every guest to feel included.
Beautiful places I have celebrated love in Switzerland
Lucerne and the surrounding area
Lucerne is one of Switzerland’s most iconic and beloved destinations, and for good reason. The old town, the lake, the mountains framing everything – it is simply breathtaking.
Two of my favourite venues sit above the lake itself:
Villa Honegg, perched almost 1000 metres above Lake Lucerne with views that genuinely take your breath away. I have officiated here and it remains one of the most beautiful settings I have ever worked in. The sense of intimacy and grandeur combined is extraordinary.
Château Gütsch, a fairy-tale castle rising above Lucerne itself, offering panoramic views over the city and the lake. For couples who want drama, romance, and history all in one place, it is remarkable, and can I say Christmas, with the markets and the lights and the decorations at this chateau are particularly evocative and magical.
Gstaad
Gstaad is synonymous with alpine luxury. Tucked into the Bernese Oberland, it offers mountain scenery, world-class hospitality, and an atmosphere of effortless elegance. For couples who want the full Swiss alpine experience – pristine peaks, cosy warmth, and a sense of being somewhere truly special. Gstaad is extraordinary and offers relaxed luxury and if you want to experience something truly breathtaking, we can take the chair lift to the Restaurant Wasserngrat and exchange your Vows in the clouds above this elegant town.
Lake Thun and Schloss Schadau
Schloss Schadau sits directly on the shores of Lake Thun, with the Bernese Alps rising behind it. It is one of those venues that looks almost too beautiful to be real. I have worked here many times and it never fails to move me.
The combination of the water, the Palace itself, and the mountain backdrop creates a ceremony setting unlike anywhere else. There are so many wonderful sights, sounds, boat trips, gastronomie and history in this beautiful city.
Lakeside at the Oeschinensee
For couples drawn to the mountains, Oeschinensee is extraordinary. This glacial lake, accessible by cable car from Kandersteg village, and a gentle hike or buggy ride, is well known and has its own insta feed, but no matter how many visitors there are, everyone makes way for a Wedding, and you will find quiet spaces too, where you can share your vows in a relaxed way, involve your family and guests in meaningful rituals or simply stand next to the turquoise water with snow-dusted peaks all around you.
Kandersteg meadow with its small church nestling in the long grasses in Autumn, is also the perfect place for a First Look or an Exchange of Private Vows giving it a timeless feel, and something that will stay in your memory.
It is also the perfect setting for the self-led ceremony, and there is more on that below.
Lake Zurich
The Zurich lakeside offers a more cosmopolitan setting . It is sophisticated, elegant, and beautifully connected for couples flying in from North America or Australia.
There are wonderful venues along the water and in the surrounding hills that offer intimacy without remoteness. The city is linked to so many other beautiful areas that you will love to explore before or after your Wedding or Elopement Day.
Geneva
For couples who want a more internationally flavoured setting, Geneva is wonderfully suited. Multilingual, beautifully positioned on the lake, and with a quiet grandeur that makes it a natural backdrop for a meaningful ceremony.
Two ways to celebrate in Switzerland
A Ceremony I lead in person
This is for couples who want me fully present on the day, leading your ceremony, holding the space for you, and making sure every word lands exactly as it should.
I will craft your ceremony entirely from scratch, weaving your love story, your values, and your vision into a script that sounds like you and not a template where only the names are changes, or a script from the internet. Every couple is special, unique and deserves the best ceremony and experience possible for their amazing Wedding or Elopement. I deliver it with warmth, enthusisam, confidence, and genuine care.
Everything is included: unlimited drafts, vow writing support, meaningful rituals if you wish, bilingual delivery at no extra cost, travel and accommodation in Switzerland, and a rehearsal or verbal walkthrough.
Ceremonies in Switzerland from CHF 2,400
Switzerland is one of the most beautiful and also one of the most varied destinations I work in.
A ceremony above Lake Lucerne, a mountain elopement at Oeschinensee, and a celebration in Gstaad each involve very different logistics and accommodation costs, so I price Switzerland individually based on your chosen location and date.
As a guide, most Switzerland ceremonies fall between CHF 2,400 and CHF 3,200 all-inclusive. Remote alpine locations or peak season dates at luxury destinations such as Gstaad may sit above this range.
The best first step is a quick conversation so that I can give you a precise figure as soon as I know your location and date.
The Self-Led Ceremony, for couples who want the moment to be entirely theirs
This is one of my most treasured offerings, and it is particularly suited to the Swiss elopement experience.
Perhaps you are hiking to Oeschinensee with your photographer. Perhaps you are standing on a private terrace above Lake Lucerne as the sun goes down. Perhaps you simply want the exchange of your vows to be a moment that belongs only to the two of you.
The self-led ceremony is for couples who want complete privacy but with words that were crafted with real care, real knowledge of who you are, and real understanding of what this moment means.
Here is how it works:
Before your ceremony, I ask each of you to answer significant questions about your relationship, your hopes, your dreams, what loving this person has changed in you, and the vows you want to make. You answer separately, without sharing your responses with each other.
From your answers, I write a complete ceremony script. Each of you has a part to play, with gentle cues guiding you through each moment, when to speak, when to listen, when to simply look at each other.
I work with you individually and share your part of the ceremony with you – unless you want it to be a total surprise, – but on the day, you will hear your partner’s words for the very first time.
It is private, deeply personal, and in my experience one of the most tender and moving experiences a couple can have.
The self-led ceremony is available as a standalone package. Please get in touch to discuss.
What your elopement in Switzerland might look like
You arrive the evening before, perhaps in Lucerne, perhaps in Grindelwald, perhaps in Gstaad. You have dinner somewhere quiet and beautiful and you feel entirely ready.
In the morning, we will meet each other, meet your photographer and other local professionals helping to get you wedding or elopement ready! When you’re ready we all make our way to your location.
Maybe it is a cable car to a mountain lake. Maybe it is a short walk through an alpine meadow. Or perhaps it is in a gorgeous Hotel, on a Terrace overlooking a beautiful lake.
Your photographer is there. Your videographer, if you have one. Perhaps a small group of people who matter most to you. Perhaps it is just the two of you.
Your ceremony is never rushed. I want you to feel relaxed but also excited. Grounded and present in a moment where we then begin to share your story, with your hopes and dreams reflected back to you, makng the moment totally yours.
Afterwards we might celebrate a little together, raise a Toast with some sparkling champagne, enjoy a relaxed picnic in the alpine greenery or go on a fabulous photo shoot and end the day with a stunning dinner or star gazing.
Absolutely no rush or detailed schedule. Just you two, united in love and marriage, in one of the most beautiful countries I have had the fortune to visit.
Frequently asked questions about eloping in Switzerland
Can couples from the USA, Canada or the UK marry legally in Switzerland?
Switzerland allows foreign nationals to marry there, but the legal requirements vary depending on your nationality and can involve documentation, waiting periods, and registration at a Swiss civil registry office. Most of my international couples choose to complete their legal marriage at home and then hold a personalised symbolic ceremony in Switzerland. This gives you complete freedom over your ceremony and location with none of the administrative complexity.
Do you offer bilingual ceremonies in Switzerland?
Yes, absolutely. I am fully bilingual in English and German and can deliver your ceremony in English, in German, or in a combination of both. This is particularly valuable for Swiss-German couples or families where guests speak different languages. Bilingual ceremonies are included at no extra cost.
How far in advance should we get in touch?
As early as possible. I book only one ceremony per day, and popular dates in Switzerland as particularly summer and early autumn dates go quickly. For 2026 and 2027 bookings I would suggest getting in touch as soon as you have a date or location in mind.
Do you work with photographers and elopement teams in Switzerland?
Yes. I am happy to work alongside your photographer, videographer, or elopement planning team. If you are still looking for recommendations I am glad to share names of professionals I have worked with and trust.
What if we want something very simple, such as only our vows and rings?
That is absolutely possible and can be beautiful. The most moving ceremonies I have officiated have often been the simplest. Please get in touch and we can talk through exactly what feels right for you.
