Many couples today choose an elopement or a small wedding with just their closest family and friends. These intimate celebrations are sometimes described as micro weddings.

I have officiated at so many beautiful venues and locations in Germany, and never fail to marvel at the wonderful range and variety of locations and venues that are available.

Some of my favourites are :

  • Eibsee Lake, Garmish Patenkirchen, located at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain The Zugspitze, a glorious 2962 metres, or 9717 feet.
  • Riessersee Lake in Bavaria – a secluded alpine meadow with a summer lake lodge, offering wellness spa, lakeside pool as well as endless biking and hiking trails in the Wetterstein mountains
  • Berlepsch Castle, Hesse, – a fairytale castle built in the 14th century with its own catacombs and four poster beds and a gorgeous chapel for religious or secular weddings
  • Kronberg in Taunus – an historic palace with links to British Royalty and now with elegant salons and a stunning library for beautiful indoor ceremonies
  • Schloss Lieser, Moselle Valley – a palace filled with charm and its own golden chapel, in the heart of this famouse wine growing region.  Five star pampering in their spa and wellness areas after a day of cycling along the vineyards
  • Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau – these historic landmarks are the stuff of fairytales and you can hold ceremony nearby in the meadow or at the gorgeous Ruebezahl hotel which is a great favourite in any season

Perfectly tailored for intimate elopements or small/micro-celebrations under 20 guests, this package creates a stress-free, magical celebration for you and those sharing it with you.

It includes:
• A complimentary, non-binding online consultation to explore your vision, budget, and overall concept for your elopement
• Ongoing communication via email or WhatsApp
• Up to three online planning consultations to review progress and next steps
• Venue and up to 3 vendor sourcing and management, with 2–3 tailored recommendations per category
• Creation of a personalized wedding day timeline
• Essential guidance with possible legal requirements and logistical coordination
• Full remote support on your wedding day to ensure everything flows smoothly
• Assistance with travel and accommodation arrangements for the couple and guests within the destination of the wedding
• Optional on-site co-ordination available starting from 750€  plus 19% VAT (5 hours).

Frequently Asked Questions About Eloping in Germany

Can couples from the USA, Canada or the UK have a legal ceremony in Germany?

Yes but I have been told it is a long and intense and expensive process.  All marriages are registered through a Town Hall called a “standesamt”.   Please check with your German Embassy for the most up to date guidance.

Most couples complete the legal paperwork in their home country and then have a personalised symbolic ceremony in Germany.

How many guests can attend a small wedding?

Most elopements include just the couple, while small weddings typically include up to twenty guests.  The average and what I noticed seems most popular is around 10 guests plus the couple themselves.

Do we need a planner for an elopement in Germany?

Some couples plan everything themselves, while others prefer support from a local planner who understands the region, and the language and culture as well as the best regional locations for your ceremony

Can you suggest actitivies and experiences around the Wedding or Elopement Date?
